REMADE develops a neighbourhood-centred Renovation-as-a-Service model, combining design for adaptability and disassembly, digital tools and co-created interventions to transform how renovation is conceived, delivered and financed across Europe.

The approach

Renovation-as-a-Service, rebuilt around the neighbourhood

Three interlocking pillars turn one-off building works into an ongoing, service-based relationship: technical elements you can reconfigure, a digital backbone that keeps track, and a social process that starts with the people who live there.

Modular DfAD elements

Prefabricated, design-for-adaptability-and-disassembly modules for façades and internal partitions with integrated energy-efficient technologies, rapidly installed, reconfigured and disassembled with minimal disruption to residents.

AI-enabled platform

A cloud-based renovation platform using BIM, digital twins, IoT sensors, material inventories and cloud-controlled LCA/LCC, for smart construction planning, energy monitoring and documenting every building transformation.

Co-design with communities

Participatory action research and co-design embed neighbourhood needs, cultural and historical practices into renovation strategies, so interventions fit the place and the people, not just the building stock.
